9 Baltic ports (Ports of Stockholm, Aarhus Havn – Port of Aarhus, Klaipėdos uostas/Port of Klaipėda, Freeport of Ventspils Authority, Port of Helsinki Ltd, Freeport of Riga, Port of Tallinn, Port of Hamburg and Port of Gdynia Authority S.A.) have just submitted an application to the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program.
The proposed project was initiated by Baltic Ports Organization as the first step of a wider initiative called Baltic Ports for Climate – OPS development, the aim of which is to intensify cooperation between ports and other stakeholders in order to reduce GHG emissions in the Baltic Sea.
The main idea behind the project is the further development and construction of OPS facilities in ports located in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR), expanding the already existing OPS network and providing access to shore-side power for ro-pax, passenger, cruise and container vessels.
The project concerns pre-investment studies (feasibility studies, market analysis, technical designs) on shore-side electricity supply in nine TEN-T core seaports from eight Baltic countries (Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Poland).
If the application gets accepted, the project will start in July 2023 and run until June 2025.
Please keep your fingers crossed for a positive consideration!
