Baltic Ports Conference 2025 – the future of Baltic ports in the spotlight

Sep 3, 2025

The Baltic Ports Conference 2025 is organised by the Baltic Ports Organization and the Port of Gdańsk, this year’s host and will be held during the 23rd International Maritime and Military Fair BALTEXPO 2025 in Gdańsk on 6-8 October. The event programme will include topics related to the prospects for port development in the face of contemporary challenges, as well as environmentally friendly solutions and safety issues in the maritime sector.

The Port of Gdańsk is a universal port, which can handle all types of goods and is one of the fastest-growing European ports of the last decade.

BALTEXPO is a leading meeting of the maritime economy and maritime military sector in Central and Eastern Europe where key players in the maritime sector have been meeting for over 40 years to jointly create the future of the industry.

“In these uncertain times, the Baltic Sea region stands at the center of discussions about security – not only for the region itself, but for Europe as a whole. I am pleased that the Port of Gdańsk is partnering with this year’s Baltic Ports Conference, especially that Poland holds the Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS). At the conference, together with other ports and industry professionals, we will discuss development, the future and the challenges facing the maritime transport sector – both on a micro and macro scale” – emphasizes Alan Aleksandrowicz, Vice President of the Board for Finance and Security at the Port of Gdańsk Authority.

The conference will kick off with an evening welcome reception on 6 October, which will take place at the Vidokowa Restaurant in the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. The next two days will be dedicated to substantive sessions and accompanying attractions.

The first day of the sessions will be devoted to analysing the changing role of ports in the region, the future of port markets and global trends in the maritime economy. Participants will learn about innovative approaches to the green transformation of ports, investments in eco-friendly ships and technologies that promote the decarbonisation of port operations. The sessions will also cover issues related to supporting terminals and port authorities in achieving sustainable development and the digitalisation of maritime logistics. The day will end with a
BaltExpo tour and Salmon Evening.

The second day of the sessions will focus on the security and resilience of ports in the face of global threats and risks. Experts will discuss risk management strategies, military mobility issues in the region, modern VTS systems and ways to ensure safe and smooth navigation. The conference will conclude with a boat tour around the Port of Gdańsk, which will allow participants to see the functioning of one of the fastest growing European ports live.

The BPC is the biggest annual event of the Baltic Ports Organization, a regional alliance with the aim of facilitating cooperation between ports and monitoring and improving shipping opportunities in the Baltic Sea region.

Join us at this year’s BPC on 6-8 October in the beautiful city of Gdańsk!
